Integration

We know that organisations often have multiple elearning systems in place to support their learning and teaching activities. To ensure PebblePad fits in to the institutional learning ecology we have created a number of integration options for popular institution systems so that the learning experience can be holistic, connected and unified:

  • Moodle
  • Blackboard
  • Student management systems and membership databases

The Moodle (both versions 1.9x and 2.0) Building Block gives users direct access to PebblePad without the need to sign in again, in addition users can create PebblePad assets from within Moodle via a simple dropdown menu which can be embedded within courses. There is also an option to export items from Moodle to PebblePad which is ideal if a learner wants to keep course materials for personal review or to add their own comments to elements of the content they are working with. Similar functionality is available with the Blackboard Building Block TM.

Turnitin integration means you can send work for plagiarism checking directly from within PebblePad Gateways. The first part of the reporting process displays a list of all the items submitted with their originality rating displayed with a graphical representation of the plagiarism risk. The really clever part is that the system scans all appropriate asset types that are part of the submitted work. So if a Webfolio is submitted with a wide range of assts attached all the linked items are also checked. Once the check is complete you can view the originality report and access TurnItIn features such are GradeMark to give students feedback on their work. Importantly there is the option to allow students to submit their work and get an originality report of the work they have submitted to a gateway. We believe this is an important option to support plagiarism awareness raising with students.

Links to student management systems and membership databases can be set up to enable the automatic subscription to gateway groups and the automatic completion of "About Me" details for users, saving them from entering the same information into multiple systems.
